| Content | In the early 1940s, Willy Breitling was already dreaming of a time after the war, when utility would give way to unbridled optimism. He began designing a chronograph that would be functional but also undeniably elegant and infinitely wearable—in his words, “the unmistakable stamp of impeccable taste.” He called this new line the Premier. To create its modern Premier, Breitling preserved distinctive vintage-Premier details, including the smooth fixed bezel, twin-register dial, streamlined rectangular pushers and applied Arabic numerals. The Premier B01 Chronograph 42 is available in an array of dial colors and case materials. It comes on a choice of classic alligator leather strap or sleek 7-row metal bracelet. Today’s Premier also lives up to Willy Breitling’s uncompromising technical standards with its exceptional self-winding movement—the COSC-certified Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01—designed for maximum precision, reliability and functionality. | The 1960s was a decade of experimentation, fun, freedom and energy. Whether cruising on a motorcycle or revving up a sportscar, living life at full speed was the order of the day. Willy Breitling felt this change of pace and set out to design an unconventional chronograph that would capture the verve of era. He called it the Top Time. That spirited tradition continues today with Breitling partnering with some of the coolest names in wheels to create its Top Time designs. A collaboration with British heritage motorcycle brand Triumph, this watch’s highlight is its ice-blue dial. The distinctive shade was precisely color matched to a Triumph Thunderbird 6T from 1951, and a rare, blue-dialed Breitling Top Time Ref. 815 from the 1970s. Collectors are sure to pick up on a few other throwbacks to vintage Breitling that include a retro logo, mushroom chronograph pushers and a “Zorro” dial design. The bowtie motif introduced on Top Time in the 1960s (and nicknamed for the wily swashbuckler’s mask) has been subtly integrated using a metal brushing technique that creates a radiant play of light and texture. The design features a Triumph emblem at 6 o’clock, a speed-measuring tachymeter scale and contrasting “squircle” (not quite square, not quite round) subdials that give the feel of a vintage dashboard gauge. For divers, timing was everything, and Breitling set out to give them the most clear-cut dive watch possible by eliminating any feature that didn’t support their lifesaving needs underwater. This pared-down watch was named the Superocean Slow Motion. What remained were clean lines, chunky luminescent indexes, squared-off hands and a high-contrast dial ring, all aimed at maximum legibility. Practical, yes. But what people really fell in love with was the look. The new Superocean retraces the Slow Motion's celebrated design codes, while adding modern features, like a scratch-proof ceramic-inlayed bezel and brightly colored dials.
