| Content | Debuted in 1964, the Breitling Top Time watch was initially designed as a chronograph that would appeal to young, energetic individuals. Previously, chronographs were only used as professional instruments, but Breitling recognised their potential as elegant accessories. Top Time quickly became popular among automobile and motorcycle enthusiasts in the 1960s. The watch remained in production until the late 1970s, surviving a tough era when quartz watches gained popularity. After many years, Top Time was revived in 2020 under the direction of new CEO Georges Kern, aiming to restore its original charm and historical significance. | Inspired by the original Superocean from the 1950s, the Superocean Heritage combines iconic design features with a modern touch. Sporty and elegant, the Superocean Heritage is a true embodiment of style at sea. Featuring the iconic triangular-shaped hands as well as a unidirectional bezel with a polished ceramic ring, the Superocean Heritage is an elegant looking diver’s watch. Available in a variety of sizes and materials including stainless steel and 18k red gold, the Superocean Heritage B20 Automatic features a range of black, blue or green dials. Offered either with a matching mesh bracelet, or a “mesh-styled” rubber strap fitting a folding buckle, this Superocean Heritage is powered by the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B20, a COSC-certified chronometer based on the Tudor Caliber MT5612. | The 1960s was a decade of experimentation, fun, freedom and energy. Whether cruising on a motorcycle or revving up a sportscar, living life at full speed was the order of the day. Willy Breitling felt this change of pace and set out to design an unconventional chronograph that would capture the verve of era. He called it the Top Time. That spirited tradition continues today with Breitling partnering with some of the coolest names in wheels to create its Top Time designs. A collaboration with British heritage motorcycle brand Triumph, this watch’s highlight is its ice-blue dial. The distinctive shade was precisely color matched to a Triumph Thunderbird 6T from 1951, and a rare, blue-dialed Breitling Top Time Ref. 815 from the 1970s. Collectors are sure to pick up on a few other throwbacks to vintage Breitling that include a retro logo, mushroom chronograph pushers and a “Zorro” dial design. The bowtie motif introduced on Top Time in the 1960s (and nicknamed for the wily swashbuckler’s mask) has been subtly integrated using a metal brushing technique that creates a radiant play of light and texture. The design features a Triumph emblem at 6 o’clock, a speed-measuring tachymeter scale and contrasting “squircle” (not quite square, not quite round) subdials that give the feel of a vintage dashboard gauge.
